Sustainability Policy and Fact Sheet

TVM has proudly been working towards becoming a plastic-free event since 2012. This includes not only plastic bags, but single use plastic items used for event production such as plastic tape and servingware.

As at April 2020, TVM will be banning the use of all single use plastics at our event, including single use water bottles, bags and zip ties.

In addition, any waste from your stall such as bags, packaging and tags must be disposed of offsite. Please note that waste is hand sorted and should any rubbish from your stall be identified, you will be asked to remove it and dispose of it thoughtfully. This could be awkward, so take care when disposing of your own rubbish.

Our rule is simple, if its not biodegradable, take it with you – or even better, don’t use it!

As a vendor, please research your packaging carefully. Biodegradable packaging is readily available, along with compostable cardboard. It is our preference that your stock is not plastic wrapped unnecessarily or packaged in plastic coated cardboard.

We have partnered with Climate Wave to lessen our environmental impact and all waste is sorted on site into 5 categories: landfill, recyclables, cans and glass, compostables and organics.

FOODIES

Food vendors will be permitted to sell any plastic utensils, straws, bottles, (including H20) or packaging at our event.

We will be implementing new waste management initiatives and require all food vendors to comply with the below rules – let’s look after our mother Earth collectively. Every little bit will make a difference!

TVM FOOD STALL REQUIREMENTS AS OF APRIL 2020:

• No sale of plastic water bottles/plastic drinks/straws. Cans and bottles only, or biodegradable cups.
• No plastic straws.
• No plastic cutlery.
• Biodegradable serviettes are preferred.
• No plastic or polystyrene packaging/wrapping.
• No plastic coffee cups or lids.
• Please use biodegradable garbage bags.
• No single use zip ties, you can find re-useable ones at Bunnings.

In an effort to ensure all stalls can meet our guidelines, TVM offers a selection of reusable products, available to stall holders at cost.

Water in plastic bottles is not approved for sale at TVM events. You can purchase water in a carton here.

TVM PRODUCTS AVAILABLE:

TVM Good Vibes re-useable drink bottles will be for sale at the TVM info tent as of December.

TVM currently sells Good Vibes market totes at the TVM info tent for only $10,  for the convenience of our customers.

TVM stallholders have the option of purchasing these in a bundle, at wholesale price, for re-sale at their stall.

We now have TVM Picnic Packs available for purchase at RRP $15.

These packs include bamboo cutlery, straws, metal straws and chopsticks in a neat little canvas pouch. Perfect for a market morning at TVM.

These packs are available to TVM food vendors to sell at your stall, on consignment. RRP is $15. Contact us for more information.
